CURRICULUM of the Master’s Programme in Spa and Wellness Management
Our innovative and renowned 2-years Master’s Programme in Spa and Wellness management is a natural progression for those who have a background in Hospitality Management or an interest in Spa, Wellness and Hospitality Management. We are focused on educating you into becoming the best experts and managers for the spa and wellness and spa industries.
Our expert-led lectures and seminars are combined with numerous field-trips and business internships. We have purposefully constructed our courses for a select group of students, allowing direct and meaningful interactions and discussions during the lectures and seminars with the lecturers and other students. Internationally respected and prominent professors and lecturers in the fields of Spa, Wellness, and Hospitality share their expertise and professional knowledge.

The aim of our international Master’s Degree in Spa and Wellness Management (MA in Wellness and Spa Service Design and Management) is to provide students with the necessary theoretical knowledge, professional skills and practical tools required for working in Spa, Wellness or Hospitality related organizations at the management level.
Service design plays an important part of our innovative Master’s Degree programme. Service Design is a form of theoretical design that involves the activity of planning and organizing people, infrastructure, communication and tangible components of a service in order to improve its quality and the interaction between the service provider and its customers.

The Practice (15 ECTS) module is designed to support the development of creativity in students and will rely on field-case studies and practical experience. During your 8-week internship students will have the opportunity to participate in the activities of a real organization or business in Estonia or abroad, which is related to each student’s specialization.
Research Design (9 ECTS) The primary focus of this module is on the preparation, presentation and defense of a master’s thesis. Courses include Research Methodology and a Master´s Seminar.
Elective courses (6 ECTS) can be chosen from courses currently available at the University of Tartu or its colleges.
Master’s thesis (30 ECTS) The master’s thesis is intended to demonstrate and assess skills in the application of acquired knowledge and to independently carry out a research task.

Programme duration: 2 years
The possibility of credit transfer is available to graduates with a 4-year bachelor’s degree. Recognition of prior work experience is available to applicants with substantial work experience in the field.
Tuition fees and scholarship
The program fee is 1500 EUR/semester and covers tuition, essential study materials, supervision and advice for thesis preparation. The program fee does not cover housing and living expenses. Please click here for more information
